All the First year engineering activities are coordinated from the office of FE Dean. Dean FE: Prof. Rajeev Singh is working as First year Dean since January, 2006. Following activities are being conducted at the first year office:  First year time table is being prepared by Prof. Mrs. A. S. Joshi along with Prof. Mrs.Ranjeeta Ghosh.
First year discipline is being looked after by Prof. N. S. Salave.
First year coordination activities for both academic and non-academic are being conducted by Prof Rajeev Singh along with Prof. Mrs. A. S. Waghmare, Prof. Mrs. A. S. Mirashi, Prof. Mrs. A. S. Joshi and Dr. S. D. Kulkarni.
Mid term and Prelim Examinations and result analysis of first year University examination are being organized and executed from Department of Applied science and Mathematics.
First year departmental Library is being maintained and timely updated by Dr. Mrs. S. G. Ghatte along with Prof. N. S. Salave.
Special Features: A) Science Forum:Science Forum has been formed in order to popularize science and to develop the scientific temperament and research aptitude amongst Engineering students. The events of scientific debate, Paper and Poster presentations, Quiz and Guest lecture of eminent personalities from science background and other allied engineering sciences are being held from time to time. The following events have been organized in recent years Events 1. 2007: A lecture by Dr. S.S.Tambe on “Artificial Intelligence” , Scientist, NCL, Pune 2. 2007: A lecture by Dr, Rajaram Nityanand, Director, NCRA-TIFR,Pune on “ Cosmic Radiowaves” 3. 2008: A lecture by Dr. T. Padmanabhan, Director, IUCAA on “ 4. 2008: A lecture by Dr. Jayant Gadgil, Consultant in Chemical industries on “ Exciting Polymeric materials” 5. 2008: Visit to GMRT to GMRT,(Giant Meterwave Radiotelescope), Narayangaon, Pune. 6. 2009: A lecture by Dr. Sangeeta Kale on “Nanotechnology” 7. 2009: Visit to DIAT (Defence Institute of Advanced Technology), Girinagar, Pune. 8. 2010: Visit to DIAT (Defence Institute of Advanced Technology), Girinagar, Pune B) MOU between STP and our college:There has been MOU signed through Applied Science Dept. between our college and Science and Technology Park (University of Pune) to work together for carrying out various projects which can involve college faculty and/or the students. Mrs. Mirashi is appointed as the coordinator C) Initiative towards soft skills: Recently Applied Science and Math Dept. have initiated English speaking and communication at all times in the campus for all the staff members of the Dept. for the development of soft skills amongst the staff.There is a complete adherence to the above initiative amongst the staff of Applied Science. Students of First Year Engg. are also being encouraged to communicate in English at all times within the campus.
Research Outputs Prof. Rajeev Singh presented the paper on “Biogas and Marine Board from Waste Green leaves” at the International Congress of Environmental Research held at Govt. Geetanjali girls P.G. College, Bhopal between 28th – 30th Dec 2007 who is also one of the co-author of the above mentioned paper. The other authors are Prof. P.G. Gosavi, Mrs. Archana Mirashi (App. Physics) and Anjali Waghmare (Engg. Chemistry). This paper has been selected for the publication in International Journal (JERAD). He also participated as a delegate at the 5th Tata Memorial Women’s Cancer initiative Conference on Advanced breast Cancer and ovarian cancer” between 26th -28th Oct’07.
Prof. Mrs. A. S. Joshi presented a paper titled “Development of mathematical modeling to determine optimum tolerance for quality improvement” in International Conference on ‘ Advances in Machine Design & Industry automation –ICAMDIA 2007’ on 10-12 Jan 2007 at COEP, Pune
Prof. N. S. Salave submitted the thesis titled “Design of Multi- wavelength of Radiometer for the Study of Atmospheric Aerosols” to the Madurai University, Madurai, Tamil Nadu towards the partial fulfillment of Master of Philosophy Degree.
Dr.Shrilekha G. Ghatte has published two research paper in International journal and attended conference on Green chemistry, SGB Amravati University in 2009

Kulkarni was sanctioned with Rs. 1,25,000 from BCUD for the project entitled, “ Free Radical Scavenging properties of wheatgrass”
Dr. Sunil D. Kulkarni will be working on the project entitled,” Determination of Selenium and Selenium species in food products using chemical neutron activation analysis, sanctioned by Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Mumbai.
Contribution of Departmental Staff as Resource Person: Prof. Rajeev Singh was invited to give a lecture to First year Engg. Student of Awate College of Engg., Hadapsar, Pune on “ New approaches for studying Engg. Mathematics” in 21st Jan’2010.
On a special request from the Principal, Prof. Rajeev Singh along with his wife, Prof. Anjali Singh conducted special revision classes on Engg. Mathematics for all the PhD aspirants for the Ph.D. entrance exam.

Workshops Organized Syllabus revision for S.E Mathematics for all branches was organized by App. Sci & Mathematics Dept by Prof. Rajeev Singh as coordinator and Dr. Nerkar as chairman. Guest of honor was Dr. Wani, the Dean of Engineering, University of Pune in Feb’2009. New Appointments Two new staff members have been appointed by university panel and have subsequently received their university approval: 1) Dr.Prof. S .D. Kulkarni (Lecturer for Engineering Chemistry).
2) Prof.(Mrs.) Ranjeeta Ghosh (Lecturer in Applied Physics).
Prof. Ms. Smita Yadav has been appointed as a visiting lecturer for Engg. Mathematics.
Mr. Pramod Gadgil and Mr. Sudhakar Kanse have joined our Department as a Sr. Lab. assistant and Peon respectively.
Involvement of supporting staff: The smooth, effective and efficient working of the department is a result of team efforts of teaching as well as supporting staff. Mr. S.U.Sonne, Sr.Lab. Asst (Chem.) and Mr. P.R.Gadgil, Sr.Lab. Asst (Phy.) have been rendering their services to the best of their ability. Mr.S.U.Sonne is serving as technical coordinator for uplkoading the online information of P.V.G’s staff and student to AICTE. He is also actively involved in Sixth pay fixation work and extends his help to the office for updating the pay roll system as and when required. The supporting team is strengthened further with the hard and sincere work inputs given by our peons, Mr. B.E. Malangner and S.K.Kanse. Results of First year Engineering ( May 2009 Exam )
