The Department of Electrical Engineering aims to impart quality education for developing Electrical Engineers to cater the needs of society and mankind. The department observes ethical practices in teaching-learning and research. It has sustained endeavors to groom and nurture students for employability and overall development.
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Electrical Engineering Department is established in 1991 with UG course in Electrical Engineering with intake of 60 students, PG course in Electrical Power Systems in 2000 and Post Graduate Research Centre in 2005. The department has the state of art laboratories to cater needs of ultra-modern curriculum. Department has team of dedicated and experienced faculty members.     PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

    • PEO1: To provide students with strong knowledge base of Electrical Engineering to excel in industry and in higher studies.
    • PEO2: To provide students with the fundamental knowledge in Engineering Sciences with more emphasis in Electrical Engineering to develop their competency in analysis, synthesis and problem solving in the related field.
    • PEO3: To train students with good scientific and engineering breadth so as to provide engineering solution in an appropriate technological, global, societal, environmental, ethical and organizational context.
    • PEO4: To inculcate professional qualities such as teamwork, leadership, entrepreneurial thinking, communication skills, professional thinking in students.
    • PEO5: To provide students with an excellent academic environment so as to motivate them for developing lifelong learning abilities.

    Engineering graduates will be able to :

    • PO4 : Conduct Investigations of Complex problems: Ability to carry out experiments, simulations and apply research methodologies to investigate the data for providing valid conclusions.
    • PO5 : Modern tool usage :An ability to select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering tools such as advanced controllers and application softwares for engineering activities

    Electrical Engineering graduates will have -

    Doctorate in Electrical Engineering

    The Electrical Engineering Department of COETis approved as a ‘Post Graduate Research Center in Electrical Engineering’ by University of Pune since July 2005.
    04 Students have completed Ph.D, 03 students have submitted Thesis, 01 student has submitted synopsis and 07 students are registered and pursuing Ph.D.
    The research activities in the department are funded by agencies like DST, DRDO etc. The research centre also has close association with MSEB for various activities.     Post Graduate in Electrical Engineering

    The Post-graduate course in Electrical Engineering was first introduced in August 2000. Fourteen batches of Postgraduate students have completed their terms. Results of earlier batches are encouraging. Many students of earlier batches have completed their post-graduation with first class and first class with distinction in the two years’ span.Uptill now total 140 students have completed their Post Graduation from this department. Adding to its excellence this Course is N.B.A accredited for three years since September 2013. Many candidates are GATE qualified and they receive scholarship from AICTE, New Delhi and UGC. Post Graduate students are actively involved in sponsored research projects funded by various funding agencies.The department also has good liaison with industry through Post Graduate projects.

    Electrical Engineering Students’ Association (EESA)

    Electrical Engineering Students’ Association (EESA) was formed in the year 1993. EESA organizes many activities, such as, organizing guest lectures, industrial visits, co-curricular and extra –curricular events, etc. throughout the year.  EESA publishes its annual souvenir “OHM’ every year. EESA maintains students’ library in the Electrical department, which consists of text books, reference books, proceedings of national and international conferences and journals.  Some of the activities of EESA are highlighted as below:-
    Following activities are conducted during current academic year 2018-19:
    • Various curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities are organized for students through Electrical Engineering Students’ Association (EESA). Prof. O. S. Pawaskar and Prof. Mrs. U. S. Thakar, worked as EESA staff advisors for the year 2018-19. This year holds a special significance as it is the silver jubilee year (25 years of service) since the inception of our student body EESA.

    • “GURUPOORNIMA” function was organized by EESA on 19th September, 2018. Dr. Mrs. V. A. Joshi guided students.
    • EESA Inauguration function was organized on 2nd August, 2018 by the hands of chief guest of this function, Dr. Priyadarshini Karve, CEO, Samuchit Enviro Tech. The EESA committee was formally introduced during this event. This was followed by a cultural event where students of SE, TE and BE Electrical gave dance and singing performances.
    • During 8, 9, 10th September 2018, “Electrabuzz” the annual event of the Electrical Department was organized where various cultural, sports events were organized. ELECTRABUZZ ’18 was a grand success with 15 competitions constituting of 1200+ participants from various colleges. The annual fest events were organized for three days. Fortune Hunter; Basketball; Box cricket; Cric auction; Cricket; Debate; Fan quiz; Poster design; Technodumbs; Connect the dots; Football; PUBG; Mock Placement; Checkmate; Chitragraphy competitions were part of this event. The motto for ELECTRABUZZ ’18 was “from harmonics to harmony” which indeed resonates with the ultimate aim of moving from disorderliness to discipline.
    • Yogendra Talware from Strom Energie delivered a guest lecture on “Tariff-effective DSM tool for Energy Conservation” on 30th Jan 2019.This Lecture was attended by SE, TE, BE Electrical Engineering students along with the faculty members.
    • Narendra Duvedi from SAS Powertech delivered a guest lecture on “Power quality” on 25th Jan, 2019. Students from SE, T.E and B.E. Electrical Engineering attended this lecture along with the faculty members.

    • Cloth donation drive activity was successfully completed in coordination with Approach Foundation from 1st to 3rd April 2019.
    • Three students from TE class participated in one day workshop for Youth on Carbon Neutral Campus organized by Yuva Drishti on 16/09/2018.

    • Industrial visits are an important aspect of engineering. Industrial visits play a very important role in imparting knowledge to the students. Students get hands on experience through industrial visits. Industrial visits are always encouraged in PVG’s COET. Various fac­ulty members from electrical engineering department organizes visits for students from all years. Eight visits were organized in this academic year.

    • EESA has organized an intercollegiate event "ELECTRABUZZ 2014" during 26th – 28th September 2014. It consisted of technical, non-technical and sports competitions. The various events were Techno Dumbs (enact the technical term), Circuit Fixer (debug the faulty circuits), MAD with CAD, Inquisitive Heads, Capture the moment, Treasure Hunt, War of words, Carom, Chess, Basketball, Football and Box Cricket.
    • A Guest lecture on “What After BE?” by Dr. Shreeram Geet, a well-known career counsellor, was organized on 19.01.2015 for students of Electrical Engineering.
    • A guest lecture on “Environment Conservation” by Mr. Yash Pataskar – our student of F.E. Electrical, was organized on 24.01.2015 for students of FE, SE and TE Electrical.
    • A Guest lecture on “Fractional Calculus” by Dr. Vishwesh Vyavahare was organized on 13.02.2015 in the morning session for TE, BE and ME (Electrical) students.
    • A Guest lecture on “Electrical Workshop” by Prof. Mrs. Vinaya Deshmukh was organized on 13.02.2015 in the afternoon session for TE Electrical students.
    • A one day exhibition on “Electrical Safety” was organized on 27.02.2015 to create an awareness among the students about Electrical Safety. More than 40 students from SE and TE participated in the exhibition by presenting safety aspects in various fields of electrical engineering in the form of models and charts. Selected groups were awarded prizes. The event was a great success.
    • Atlas Copco day was celebrated on 14.03.2015 wherein a prestigious Kruttika Scholarship of Rs. 50000/- was awarded to Ms. Shrutika Vernekar who stood first in girls in TE Electrical exam May 2014. The scholarship was awarded by Mr. Rajiv Dadhe of Atlas Copco.
