About PVG’s ASM Students Club

Association of PVG’s ASM Student Club was reformed in the year 2022 by the group of Second, Third & Final year students of Mechanical branch. The sole purpose in forming this association was to bring students together and to provide them the platform to nurture their talent. The year 2022 was proved to be a breakthrough for PVG’s ASM Student Club as the committee was able to form a quite good platform for the years to come. PVG’s ASM Student Club is the platform where students as well teachers can interact with eminent industry Persons at a very different level.

This platform was formed to promote innovation, talent and skills in a particular student. PVG’s ASM Student Club was formed on the grounds of sharing, hard work, loyalty and respect towards knowledge as well as teachers. With the heart of PVG’s ASM Student Club being knowledge conducting multiple events to spread the knowledge is the motto of the PVG’s ASM Student Club. Finally PVG’s ASM Student Club is a platform formed by the students for the students.

1. Inaugural Ceremony of PVG’s ASM Student Club

With a cheer from Chairman Mr. Udayan Pathak PVG’s ASM Student Club was officially founded on 6th January 2022 but the activities started much before that. On the day of inauguration Ceremony of PVG’s ASM Student Club & an intercollege project competition was held. Faculty incharge Prof. S. S. Chikshe has been a great coordinator with a lot of support from HOD of Mechanical Department Dr. M. M. Bhoomkar.

But the journey to build this strongly coordinated organization was started much before that. Every member is a pillar of a team which contributes to different aspects to make every event successful. In PVG’s ASM Student club we have Outreach , Record maintenance, Event Organizing , technical lecture committees with a newly founded and proactive promotion team which ensures presence on every social media with updates of every program. Since its foundation PVG’s ASM Student Club is run by all students who voluntarily work for betterment of knowledge and its reach to everyone. The Chairman of the Club is Mr. Atharva Potnis,  Vice-chair Ms. Mrudula Deosthali, Secretary Mr. Sahil Belekar and Treasurer Ms. Riddhi Patel are the office holders of the club.

On 19th August 2022 Ms. Mrudula was selected as student representative in ASM Pune Chapter. This was a delightful moment for the club. The club expanded significantly and reached a count of 54 within just 4 months from its foundation and it is a proud moment for the club as it became the fastest growing club under the umbrella of ASM Pune Chapter.

2. Technical Talk on Five S system (5s)

A technical talk was arranged by PVG’s ASM Student Club on 5s management system on 17th August 2022. ASM  International Pune Chapters chairman Mr. Udayan Pathak Sir was the chief guest for the event.  Guest speaker was Mrs. Mohini Modak Madam, Founder Director of Horizon web Technologies.  The event was attended by Honorable Principal Dr. M. R.Tarambale, HOD of Mechanical  Department Dr. M. M. Bhoomkar & PVG’s ASM Student club’s Coordinator Prof. S. S. Chikshe.

3. Technical Talk on Heat Treatment Process Awareness

On 30 September 2022 a technical talk was arranged by PVG’s ASM Student Club on Heat Treatment Process  Awareness. ASM International Pune Chapter’s Joint Secretary Mrs. Ruta Barve was chief guest  for the event. Guest speaker was Mr. Prashant Ingale Quality Assurance Manager at Tsubaki  Conveyor systems India Pvt. Ltd. The event was attended by Industry Institute Cell Head Dr. N.  G. Jaiswal Sir, Student Coordinator Prof. Chikshe.

4. International Conference on “Smart Materials and Additive Manufacturing”

An International Conference on “Smart Materials and Additive Manufacturing” was arranged on 6th November 2022 at College Auditorium, PVGCOET & GKPIOM, Pune. The event was organized by the PVG’s ASM Student Club in association with ASM Pune Chapter and Mechanical Engineer’s Student Association of PVG COET & GKPIOM (MESA). Dr. Navin Manjooran, FASM Chairman, Solve Technology and Research, Inc. Orlando, Florida, USA and DR. Pierpaolo Carlone Professor of manufacturing Department, University of Salerno, Italy were the guest speakers of the event. The event was attended by Chief Guests Mr. U. B. Pathak Chairman, Mr. R. Gupta, Vice Chairman, and Mr. D. G. Chivate Head of Outreach Committee from ASM International Pune Chapter. Mr. S. P. Redekar Chairman PVG & Director of PVGCOET & GKPIOM, Prof. R. G. Kaduskar Director, Dr. M. R. Tarambale Principal of PVGCOET & GKPIOM respectively felicitated Guests Speakers and ASM authorities. Dr Manjooran added in his speech ” Additive manufacturing with Artificial intelligence is like turning dust into gold”. Also Prof. Dr. P. Carlone stated  “Technology is transferred from generation to generation”.

The event was a huge success from appreciation of ASM Pune chapter . It was attended by many enthusiasts including students and faculties from other colleges from many engineering colleges in Pune. The all-day event from Welcoming the guests with Indian tradition to the valedictory function of all attendees was smoothly conducted and was streamed live on Youtube.

Being a novice PVG’s ASM Student Club is running towards the horizon of opportunities. Arranging different technical and non-technical events, organizing intercollege project competitions and  holding international conferences are all efforts towards creating   technology based society. The club even has plans for sensitive topics like mental health and environmental issues. With its wings spreading to fly high, the club is the right way for every enthusiast to grab the opportunity to learn and be a lamp light for every upcoming student. The club is determined to set a legacy which does not talk about things that are volatile but which will impact the students to make efforts towards their personal growth and societal success.

5. Student Training Program (STP) on “MasterCam 2023

On 27th and 28th of March 2023 we have conducted a 2 days mastercam training program which was beneficiary for our BE students. The guest of and the trainer was sir Nitin Wakode Director Deccan IT technologies. The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. S. S. Chikshe

The Mastercam training program offers comprehensive instruction on the efficient use of the Mastercam software, a leading computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) solution. Participants gain hands-on experience with various features and tools to enhance their proficiency in generating precise CNC programs.

The program covers essential topics such as 2D and 3D modeling, toolpath creation, and simulation. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, participants develop the skills necessary to optimize machining processes and improve productivity. The Mastercam training program equips individuals with the knowledge and expertise to excel in the field of computer-aided manufacturing.

6. Expert Session on “Effective Research Paper Writing & Publication”

On 18th of April 2023, PVG’s ASM Student Club in collaboration with MESA conducted a seminar on effective research paper writing and publication by the expert Prof. Dr. Mrs Dipti Patil. The event was a great success under the guidance of Prof. S. S. Chikshe.

Research paper writing involves a systematic and methodical approach to communicate research findings. It requires conducting thorough literature reviews, formulating a clear research question, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting the results in a structured format. Proper citation and adherence to academic writing conventions are crucial. Effective research paper writing enables scholars to contribute to their field, share knowledge, and engage in scholarly discussions. It is an essential skill for academics and researchers to disseminate their work and advance scientific understanding.

7. State Level Project Competition

On 5th of May 2023 we have conducted the State level project competition and the guest for the evaluation was our ASM Pune Chapter chairman Mr. U. B. Pathak and Dr. D. G. Chivte. The event was a grand success in which students from various colleges had taken part to showcase their talent. The event was held under the guidance of Prof S. S. Chikshe.

The state-level project competition serves as a platform for students to showcase their innovative projects and compete at a regional level. Participants present their projects to a panel of judges, demonstrating their problem-solving abilities and technical skills. The competition encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking among students across the state. It fosters healthy competition and provides an opportunity for recognition and rewards for outstanding projects. The state-level project competition not only celebrates innovation but also nurtures talent and inspires the next generation of inventors and problem solvers.
