C] Interaction with Dassault Systems: Vlab development
Students and faculty members from the department of Electrical Engineering developed virtual laboratories using 3DEXperience in association with Dassault Systems. Total 21 students participated in this activity during the pandemic period and worked from home. The program started in July 2020 for 16 weeks. Dr. Mrs. G. A. Vaidya, Dr. Mrs. V. A. Joshi, Dr. M.P. Bhawalkar and Prof. Mrs. P. R. Khatri guided students during the development of the experiments. The activity was initiated and guided by Mr. Ajinkya Naik who is alumnus of the department working at Dassault Systems. Mr. Huzefa from Dassault Systems and Dr. Vrunda Joshi from Electrical Engineering Department worked as coordinators for the activity.

1)           IEEE Special Interest Group (SIG) on Affordable Agriculture

Preamble: – IEEE Humanitarian Activity Committee (HAC), IEEE, USA has approved a project submitted by IEEE Pune Section. The me4mbers of working group are NGOs such as Swapnabhoomi, Manavlok and Government College of Agriculture, 6 Engineering Colleges, Farmers in Maharashtra state. IEEE Pune Section has signed an MoU with PVG’s COET in demonstrating 5 interdisciplinary projects in the domain of affordable agriculture.

The main objective of SIG group is to provide low cost solution to farmers with different farm-mechanization tools. The activity started with a workshop on “Precision Agriculture” on 29th November 2018 at College of Agriculture, Pune.  The implementation of project ideas on agriculture is possible by visit to farms and interaction of faculty and students of College of Agriculture, Pune with engineering students and faculty. The supporting funds of around Rs 1, 00, 000/- is sanctioned by IEEE Pune section towards development of demonstrative ideas on issues of farmers as well as set up of preliminary affordable agriculture lab in college.

Dr Surekha Deshmukh worked as project coordinator along with Dr Vrinda Joshi, Prof Mr Manish Nagoshe, Prof Mrs Vaishali Gongane as staff advisers to students from Electrical, E & TC and Mechanical department. The project completed under this collaboration are as Automation in Agriculture, Sugarcane Harvester, Design and development of chocolate 3D printer, Real time cloud sensing, KISAN  Agriculture Robot.

2) Hands on training on Live Micro Grid was anchored by Eaton Technologies Pvt Ltd, Eaton Innovation Center, Magarpatta, Pune on 2nd August 2019 in association with PES-IAS Chapter. The research scholars, PG students and faculty members of Electrical Engg Dept participated in the training.

Engineers of Eaton have explained the basics of Micro-grid. There was Visit to Solar PV plant, DG set, battery energy storage system, Control- panel room, micro-grid controllers. The team discussed the

The team demonstrated the real time operation of Micro-grid Future areas for research in micro-grid.

3) Faculty members such as Dr Geetanjali Vaidya, Dr Surekha Deshmukh, Dr Mandar Bhawalkar and Prof Mrs preeti Khatri participation of PES members at the workshop on “Industry 4.0 and its relevance to Electrical Engg”, organized by CEEAMA– Consulting Electrical Engineers Association of Maharashtra on 8th February 2020, at Mumbai. This was great platform to interact with Engineers of ABB, Siemens, Torrent Power, Sterling and Wilson etc.

4) Prof. Dr. M.P. Bhawalkar worked as coordinator for seminar on Industrial Energy Audit and Electrical Safety on 20th February 2020 at Institution of Engineers, India, Pune Local Centre.

5) Prof. Dr. M.P. Bhawalkar worked  as judge for Annual Paper Meet, paper presentation competition held at Institute of Engineers Pune Local Centre in Oct 2020.

6) Collaboration with PUNE AUTO EXPO 2020

“Sustainable Electric Mobility for Today and Tomorrow”, was the theme of 19th Pune Auto Expo 2020, 5th March 8th March 2020 at Creaticity, Old Eshanya Mall, Pune, . The theme of Pune Auto Expo is.

National conference was technically cosponsored by IEEE Power and Energy Society had a theme of “EV Ecosystem Development in India” on 7th March 2020 and “Sustainable Electric Mobility in India” on 8th March 2020 .There were around 20 high officials and eminent speakers from PMPML, Maha-Metro, TIFAC, CMET, MSEDCL, DRDO, VRDE, ARAI, C-DAC, CIRT, Department of Science and Technology, Automotive Testing systems group, ROHM Semiconductors India Pvt Ltd, SPEL Technologies Pvt Ltd, PRAJ, Kalyani Center for Technology and Innovation-Bharat Forge Ltd-R & D, Greaves Cotton, Society of Manufacturers of EV, PRAJ. Theses speakers shared their knowledge and expertise in every segment of E mobility, EV ecosystem development, Battery charging and management as well as testing systems, Biofuels, super-capacitors etc. The delegates from Engineering Manufacturing Units, Engineering Consultants, Automotive Sector, Research Organizers, PMPML, Government Organizations, Dealers, Traders, Academia from Engineering, Science, Technology and Management streams will attend the conference and Pune Auto Expo 2020. Dr Surekha Deshmukh, Dr Geetanjali Vaidya, Dr Mandar Bhawalkar, Prof Mrs Preeti Khatri were members of organizing team of Pune Auto Expo 2020.
