Objectives of IIC cell:
Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) program is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE) through MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC) in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in education institutions.
Innovation Cell program. Launched under the aegis of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the IIC aims to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within higher educational institutions across the country.
Established IIC in 2019 to nurture creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial mindset among students, faculty, and staff, the IIC provides a platform for ideation, collaboration, and implementation of innovative projects. It serves as a catalyst for transforming academic institutions into innovation hubs where cutting-edge ideas are conceptualized, developed, and translated into tangible solutions for societal challenges.
PVGCOET & GKPIOM, Pune have taken initiatives, conducted workshops, seminars, and competitions, the IIC encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, industry linkages, and experiential learning opportunities for students. Pune Vidyarthi Griha College of Engineering & Technology and GKPIOM, Pune has always taken efforts to establish and inculcate the culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship since 2001 amongst the students and staff of the college by encouraging staff to attend faculty development programs (FDPs) at EDI, Ahmedabad. This formation has helped to bridge the gap by establishing a connection between the real world entrepreneurs, innovators and the students of the college. It empowers aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators to turn their ideas into successful ventures that contribute to economic growth and social welfare.
The objectives and goals of the Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) within an institute typically revolve around fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving among students, faculty, and staff.
Objectives and Goals:
- Cultivate Innovation Mindset: Instill a mindset of creativity, innovation, and risk-taking among students, faculty, and staff to encourage them to think beyond conventional boundaries.
- Promote Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration across disciplines and departments to foster cross-pollination of ideas and perspectives, leading to innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Support Entrepreneurial Ventures: Provide support and resources for students, faculty, and staff interested in entrepreneurship, including mentorship, incubation facilities, funding opportunities, and access to networks.
- Incubate Innovative Projects: Nurture innovative ideas and projects by providing incubation support, technical guidance, and access to prototyping facilities to help transform concepts into viable products or services.
- Facilitate Industry Partnerships: Forge partnerships with industry stakeholders to facilitate technology transfer, collaborative research, internships, and real-world problem-solving projects, enhancing the practical relevance of academic programs.
- Organize Innovation Events and Workshops: Conduct workshops, seminars, hackathons, and innovation challenges to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial acumen among students and faculty.
- Promote Research and Development: Encourage research activities focused on addressing societal challenges, fostering innovation-driven research, and promoting commercialization of research outcomes.
- Create an Innovation Ecosystem: Establish a vibrant innovation ecosystem within the institute comprising innovation labs, maker spaces, and startup incubators to provide a conducive environment for idea generation, experimentation, and collaboration.
- Foster Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness: Educate students, faculty, and staff about intellectual property rights (IPR) and facilitate the protection and commercialization of innovative ideas through patents, copyrights, and trademarks.
- Measure and Evaluate Impact: Regularly assess the impact of innovation initiatives, entrepreneurship programs, and industry collaborations to identify areas for improvement and ensure alignment with the institute’s overall strategic goals.
By working towards these objectives and goals, the IIC can effectively contribute to creating a dynamic and innovative ecosystem within the institute, nurturing the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers.
