‘Shatayu Bhavan’ is an ‘Old Age Home’ run by parent institute Pune Vidyarthi Griha’ since last 38 years. The building of said Shatayu Bhavan does not have ‘Elevator’ facility fitted thereto. As such, the old and handicapped inmates of ‘Shatayu Bhavan’ are finding it very difficult to use the staircases. Shatayu Bhavan has provided consultancy project of developing ‘Staircase Climbing Wheelchair’ to Mechanical Engineering faculty members Dr. Girish S. Modak and Dr. M. M. Bhoomkar. The product will be beneficial for society in general and handicapped people in particular. Estimated costing of the project is Rs.60,000
First instalment of Rs.12,000 is already disbursed while remaining part will be disbursed as per requirement of the concerned faculty members.
